piece of wisdom from my son's friend

our home is a mess since the past few days. we are painting and re-organizing. work desks have gathered in hallways. boxes are spilling all their secrets to them. mattresses propped against walls, are waiting patiently to head back into their bedrooms. and a random sofa is lounging in the center of the living room, resting its back on the slightly grumpy dining table (not its fault, we've dumped every trinket on it).

this has not deterred my son and his friends (all 11) spending afternoons playing in our home. i finally apologized to one of them today for the mess they are dealing with. he gave me a friendly reply. "oh it's ok. reorganizing means things get messy for a while before they get better".

just a kid making an observation. but it came to me at the perfect moment, just as i am going through a "personal reorganization" myself. the timing made it surprisingly profound, so it is bookmarked here now :)
